Retford King Edward VI School New entrance

To the right of this photo was the main solid wooden entrance to the (1926) New Block and when I arrived in 1977, this entrance was under construction, and the only way to reach the New Block was along the front of the building and down the narrow path along the London Road railings.

I think in 1979 the corrugated metal construction hoardings were removed to reveal this entrance, opening directly into the new music rooms, and another new entrance which opened at the other side of the New Block, towards the clock tower and the main school entrance.

Sadly in about 2012, because it was not part of the Listed Buildings, all of that new link annex was demolished. [Ged Moss 2022-04-14 08:50:22]
