This photograph, dated 1973, just after the official school history written by AD Grounds encapsulates so much history of the school: The famous wooden Tin Tab is just visible top left beside Domine Cross Road before its demolition - just a heap of wood by 1977. The new art block, centre left, seems quite isolated with diagonal path leading to it - by 1979 that path would disappear under the large new craft and maths block (it was a fenced off building site in 1977). The sixth form block did not yet exist in the centre of the picture for 2-3 more years. The new gymnasium, squash courts and science blocker are there on the right. By 2012 the arts blocks, sixth form, gymnasium and science block would all be reduced to rubble as the site was redeveloped for residential use. [webmaster 2022-09-19 04:24:15] |
