Although pictures of the New Science Block appear in the 1959 Retfordians magazine, the programme uncovered by Malcolm Lynn recently suggest it was not formally opened until 1961, as Malcolm recalls:
My sister is having a major sort-out of her possessions prior to a house move and she came across the attached programme for the formal opening of the new science block, gym, “practical crafts block†and kitchen at KEGS in 1961.
I don’t remember the event at all – I would have been in the 1st form at the time, so I assume she inherited the programme from my grandad, who would have been chairman of Tuxford Parish Council at the time and I guess he may have been invited to the ceremony. [webmaster 2022-04-11 13:30:59]
